ABOUT YOURSELF

Lee Black born and bred Mackem since 1979 .I have a son Freddy .My interests are my tipplers and carp fishing

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN FLYING TIPPLERS?

I have had mainly tumblers and rollers as a kid , i tryed tipplers the last couple of years having watching the lads in the club ,i flew 1 year as a novice ,next year i will try for the novice cup

WHICH STRAINS DO YOU KEEP?

I keep Bodens from my cousin Dave Black along with some German imported Bodens i also borrowed a few Pilots along with a  few of Daves ex Flyers.

WHY DO YOU KEEP THOSE STRAINS?

Having seen the Bodens fly well for the lads in the club i decided to try them myself

WHAT DO YOU PREFER COCKS OR HENS?

I will try anything from the 12 birds i have settled and dark trained for my novice year in 2011 .Its all about timing in,you only get one chance at the Novice cup

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE FLY?

My first fly was my best fly but only flew 9 hrs 59 mins to keep my novice for 2011

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE LOFT?

No loft inparticular, i like to take various ideas from the lads lofts in the club

WHAT IS YOUR FLYING POSITION LIKE?

I have a very good lit up area in the dark living by a shopping center and a main road ,i have a big garden ,but have big trees as obsticals when dropping the birds

WHAT IS THE BEST KIT YOU HAVE WITNESSED?

I have watched a few of our Daves kits go to dark on competition day ,but live close by club member Anth Golden and enjoyed his national kit of youngbirds fly 17hrs 41 mins

DESCRIBE YOUR SET UP

I have a one flying loft with 12 individual kit boxes and a weaning cage with a small box trap, also i have a breeding loft with a avairy

Flying Oldbirds for the first time in 2011 as a novice

Kept my novice flying 9hrs 59

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT IN TIPPLERS?

Having a kit of 16 youngbirds settled and just starting to dark train them all ,they all disappeared only one bird returned

WHAT IS YOUR HIGHLIGHT IN TIPPLERS?

Trying for the novice cup its the first year in the NTU where i will have youngbirds and oldbirds to compete with .

ANY ADVICE FOR THE NOVICE

Get as much help you can from the sucessfull members in your area.

HOW DO YOU SETTLE YOUR TIPPLERS?

By having them on the loft top before they can fly with the droppers keeping them hungry

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN SELECTING A KIT?

Birds with no mistakes helps

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN THEY ARE IN FORM?

I know my birds this year were in form when they kept me up in the garden till 3 am on a training fly when i meant to get them down at midnight

WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR FLYERS?

Depurative in training

HOW ARE YOUR BIRDS CARED FOR AFTER A COMPETITION?

Depurative then extra rest before putting them back into training
